Computers & Integration, has won a national award for their pioneering work in assisting people with physical and sensory impairments to use computers.
The company has been recognised for its expertise in utilising " assistive technology" by a jury of its peers at the Learndirect Scotland 2007 conference in Glasgow.
Computers & Integration is one of 500 accredited Learndirect Centres in Scotland and had been one of only thirty nominated for a Best Practice Award.

represented Computers & Integration at the conference and collected the award.
" Richard and Lorraine had to make a ten minute presentation to the conference audience," explained Sandra Turnbull, manager of Computers & Integration. " The presentations explained how we work in Inverurie and how we have tried to make learning an enjoyable experience."
After all the competitors had made their presentations the audience at the conference had to vote for the winners.
" Each participating centre received a certificate and then it was announced that we had been awarded the trophy for best practice in the Enabling Accessibility category," said a delighted Lorraine who phoned her colleagues in Inverurie with the good news.
The local company were up against some heavyweight competition in the form of Go@l Training of Perth and RNIB Scotlands Employment and Learning Centre near Edinburgh.
Computers & Integration offer a wide range of computer-based learning courses from their base at 4 St James Place, Inverurie. These range from basic introduction to computing courses to advanced level training.
Although originally established to assist people with disabilities to use computer technology to improve their quality of life, the charity now offers courses to all and is an ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) training and test centre.
